Dr. Praduman Kumar Sharma (b.20th January, 1960) has joined as Registrar in the National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation and Museology (Deemed to be University) on 9th June, 2017. Dr. Sharma is having more than three-decades’working experience in different organizations handling academic and administrative responsibilities. He is well established academician and administrator.
Dr. Sharma did his M.A. (History) from M.D. University, Ph.D. on ‘Mughal Architecture: Study of Mosques and Tombs, Delhi’ from Jamia Millia Islamia and MBA (Human Resource) from Sikkim Manipal University. In addition, he has also done Post Graduate Diploma in Computers Application and Persian Language Certificate Course from Iranian Culture Centre.
Credit of writing three books on Islamic Architecture as well as publishing various articles on the subject, goes to Dr. Sharma. After completing his Ph.D. in the year 1998, Dr. Sharma has been delivering public lectures on Islamic Architecture throwing special thrust on architectural and decorative elements on the monuments, in various colleges and educational Institutions in different parts of the country. Six Ph. D. scholars of the National Museum Institute have successfully completed their research work under the guidance of Dr. Sharma.
Dr.Sharma is also associated with the Museums Association of India since 1994 and has handled the responsibilities as its elected Assistant Secretary (1996 – 2004), then as Secretary (2004 – 2010) and in the year 2010 during the All India Museums Annual Conference in February, 2010 at Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh) he was elected as its President for a term of two years but still continuing as President of MAI having been re-elected after every two years.
Exhibition of oil paintings of Dr.Sharma at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi was inaugurated by the then Deputy Chairperson of Rajya Sabha Dr. Najma Heptulla Ji in the year 2003.
